Best things to do this weekend in Santiago (Oct 23 - 25)

An abundance of food, music and festivals- yet another promising weekend ahead of us in Santiago! Some highlights will include: Santiago's first trap music festival, concerts from Moon Duo, Vive La Fête and Natalia Jiminez, not to mention midnight gatherings at museums throughout the city.

  • Vivian Maier: Head over to the Centro Cultural Las Condes (or Espacio ArteAbierto de Fundación Itaú) to catch the Vivian Maier exhibit which is in Chile for the first time! Vivian Maier was a nanny who took street photos of everyday life mostly in New York City and Chicago- photos which were discovered after her death and have received extensive coverage and critical acclaim. A 2013 documentary on Vivian will also be shown on Saturday.

  • Una Guerra Silenciosa e Imposible: Looking for a unique art exhibit to spice up your weekend? Look no further! Continuing this weekend is the exhibit "Una guerra silenciosa e imposible" where artist Ivan Navarro uses lights and electrical energy to interpret contemporary history in a symbolic representation. Come by and enjoy a journey through Chilean history via carefully manipulated lights!

  • Holi Festival of Colours: Inspired by the Northern Indian Holi Festival, this massive international dance party brings together some pretty cool internaional electronic fusion acts for its first iteration in Santiago. Led by Matthew Kona and including Teemid, Julian Jordan, Bombay Boogie Soundsystem, the dance party promises some pretty good beats. Wear clothes you don´t mind getting covered in dust from the bags of color that you will be launching into the air. Tickets are CP $36,000 available online.

The poblacion was born from a land-takeover and was well-known for their resistance during the military dictatorship. This is a community event, way off the beaten path- so you've been warned. There will be a number of interesting activities, including a carnival on Sunday.
