Best things to do this weekend in Santiago (Oct 9 - 11)

It's another long weekend in Chile and if you've decided to stay in the city, we have a ton of events lined up for you. There's a major Andean festival taking place at Cerro Blanco, a full-blown carnival on Sunday, Queer Cinema Fest, Javiera Mena, an Indigenous Film Festival, the Ballet Nacional de Chile's Anniversary Gala event, a beer festival and more!

  • Arjé, el misterio de lo cotidiano: "Arjé, el miserio de lo cotidiano" blends theater with a circus booming with creativity and entertainment. The title itself, "The Misery of Everyday Life," challenges that concept by converting our everyday lives into a circus-like world- a wonderful little escape from your typical Santiago reality. The show runs from October 9 to 11 at Capra Plaza Zócalo, GAM, beginning at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 9 p.m. on Sunday.

  • Cartagena: Teatro Sidarte presents "Cartagena," a theatrical rendition of Colombian aristocracy set in the 1930s where competitive presidential hopefuls are out for vengeance. Directed by Mario Caceres, this play is bound to expose the dramatic side of the Colombian elite. The final three viewings are this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. General admission is CP$5,000 at the door, but students and seniors can get in for CP$3,000.

  • Mutilados: "Mutilados," or The Mutilated, is a theatrical performance written and directed by Andrea Franco which takes a look at the War of the Pacific from the perspective of the forgotten women, children, indigenous and cannon fodder that were mistreated or victimized in the conflict. Actors, musicians and visual artists take part in the production every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through November 1st.
